Jilted man opens fake facebook account of woman, booked

MOHALI: The cops from Mataur police station have booked Sushant Kumar, a native from Bihar for allegedly making a fake facebook ID of a woman.
According to police, the accused used to be the victim’s friend for a long time. However, the accused had developed a soft corner for the victim while the woman considered Sushant to be a friend only. After a number of failed attempts to convince her for a relationship with Sushant, he decided to take a revenge from her.
The accused first used a random email ID to make an account on facebook using the woman’s name.

He then edited her pictures obtained from different sources including her real facebook account. The pictures thereafter were made viral on the internet, which attracted lewd comments on the woman’s fake profile.
Sushant’s act was caught, after the woman’s friends informed her about her active fake ID on facebook. She, then informed her family about the incident, after which the matter reported at the police station.
The accused has been booked under Section 354D (stalking), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and also under relevant sections of Information and Technology Act.
Station house officer (SHO) at Mataur police station Jarnail Singh said, “An FIR has been lodged and a search operation has been launched to arrest the accused.”
The cops have also blocked the fake facebook ID of the woman to stop any further harassment to her.
