BATHINDA: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday appeared in Faridkot court in the October 2015 Kotkapura police firing case.
Most of the other accused in the case, however, did not appear as they had obtained exemption from personal appearance. The court adjourned the matter to June 14 for consideration of replies filed by the accused upon being provided the copies of the challans.
The special investigation team (SAI) had filed the 7,000-page chargesheet on February 24 naming former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, former home minister Sukhbir Badal, former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini and others as accused in the case.

A 2,400-page supplementary chargesheet was filed on April 25 repeating the charges against the accused apart from putting up additional evidence; the same day Parkash Singh Badal breathed his last a Mohali hospital.
Sukhbir, while speaking to the mediapersons, took on the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab. “While AAP is crying hoarse about violation of Constitution in the country, in Punjab its own government is working against the Constitution and targeting its opponents,” he said.
