By Pranjal Kapoor & Ruchika RanaCHANDIGARH: With no one making it to the top 100, the city has recorded the worst NEET result in years. The disheartening result of CBSE NEET has shifted the interest of NEET aspirants back to AIIMS and
JIPMER. However, the NEET result did not make a difference to the top two scorers, who were also AIIMS Tricity toppers, as they have already secured seats in AIIMS.
Earlier, other top scorers from the city thought they had not scored well in AIIMS and were hopeful about NEET since the paper was easy and scoring.
However, the major shift in ranks, despite good marks, has now made them stick to AIIMS. In top 500, only three students from the city could score ranks this year. Last year, the top AIR in NEET was five. This year, it is 230, scored by AIIMS Tricity topper Navtej Mangat. On the second position is Ankush Jindal, who secured AIR 412. They got 656 and 645 marks in NEET, respectively . In AIIMS, they secured AIR 40 and 65, respectively.
The third is Mehak Malhotra, who secured the third place with 498 marks. Mehak said she expected far better AIR. After being disappointed with NEET results, Mehak is now likely to stick with AIIMS where she secured 212. “I hoped to get a better rank and make it to some good college. I did not consider my AIIMS result good but it is the best I have got so I will go for it,“ she said. Other students are going to ditch colleges under NEET. “I will now prefer JIPMER, as I scored 63 all India rank, “ said Gurasis, who scored AIR 732.
Ankit Gauba, who was also discouraged with NEET results said he will now pursue MBBS from AIIMS. He secured AIR 613 in AIIMS while in NEET he secured AIR 1,199
Aarushi Jain from the Tricity scored AIR 5 and japnoor kaur scored AIR7, thus making to the top 10 positions. Two other students from tri-city Toshali pandey and Tanish modi scored all India 14 and 16 rank, respectively.Mantavya gupta had scored AIR 43. Total 5 made it to top 100.
