Nirjhar Vatika to get facelift after mayor’s visit
Panchkula: City mayor Sham Lal Bansal inspected Nirjhar Vatika in Sector 5 alongside Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority (PMDA) officials, directing them to immediately upgrade public amenities. The inspection was prompted by the Mayor's personal daily morning walks at the park and direct complaints from visitors regarding the poor condition of the facilities.
Bansal ordered officials to repair and maintain the toilets, fix the dysfunctional fountain, ensure the regular operation of the music system, and provide clean drinking water. He also mandated comprehensive cleanliness drives throughout the park and the swift repair of damaged shade umbrellas, emphasising that as one of Panchkula's prominent recreation hubs, the park's facilities must remain in top condition.
In a separate inspection in Sector 3, mayor Bansal reviewed the under-construction municipal corporation office building and ordered its resumption. Superintending engineer Vijay Goyal reported that the project has been severely delayed because the previous contractor abandoned the work midway, alongside lingering technical complications.
To revive the project, a fresh tendering process is currently underway, and contract negotiations are being finalised. Bansal directed officials to ensure that construction begins immediately and finishes within the stipulated timeframe, stating that a centralized MC headquarters is crucial to save residents from visiting multiple offices for civic services.
