PU invites applications for Bhagyatara Award

CHANDIGARH: Panjab University (PU) has invited applications for the "Panjab University Bhagyatara Award 2015". The award will be given for research in the area of Organic Chemistry/Biochemistry/ Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Dairy Chemistry and the selected awardee will get Rs 50,000.
The last date for receiving nominations is September 29, 2015 at the Department of Chemistry, PU.All information about the award has been uploaded on the Notice Board of the Chemistry department on the PU website.
The nominated person must be an Indian, below the age of 50 years, who has made significant contributions in applied science and is actively engaged in research in the university or a research institute in India in the area of Organic Chemistry/Biochemistry/Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Dairy Chemistry. The nominations for the award should be duly made by the heads of the institutions, vice-chancellors of the Universities, directors of IIT and national laboratories, deans and head of the departments and fellows of national academies.
The "Panjab University Bhagyatara Award" is awarded annually by the PU to an outstanding scientist, who has made significant contribution in the areas of Organic Chemistry/Biochemistry/Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Dairy Chemistry.
Well known scientists like Dr KN Ganesh (NCL, Pune), Dr Santanu Bhattacharya (IISc, Bangalore), Prof S Kotha (IIT, Mumbai), Prof Subodh Kumar (GNDU, Amritsar), Prof VK Singh (IIT, Kanpur) Prof Ashwini Nangia (Central University, Hyderabad), Prof GJ Sanjayan (NCL Pune) and Dr Sandeep Verma (IIT, Kanpur) have earlier received the award. The awardee is selected on the basis of the merit of his/her research work evaluated by a panel of experts from among the Nominations received from different universities/research institutes form all over India.
