BATHINDA: Even as BJP activists while appreciating the NDA government's decision of putting into motion the scrapping of article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, held celebrations, the three political parties of Punjab SAD (Amritsar), United Akali Dal and Dal Khalsa have denounced the decision.
The three political parties have accused the Narendra Modi government of taking unilateral decision of scrapping article 370 without convening any discussions even though the session of Parliament was in progress.
The parties have demanded international pressure and mediation by USA to withdraw the decision.
Inquilabi Kendra Punjab, association for democratic rights and other left leaning organisations too have slammed the Narendra Modi government for scrapping article 370. Inquilabi Kendra president Narain Dutt said that "the scrapping of the article 370 will not go down well with the Kashmiri people. The disturbed condition in the state for the last three decades may further aggravate with this step. The Union government by not taking any political party from the opposition or the other stake holders has tried to show that this government is working in dictatorial manner which is not good for vibrant democracy”.
In the meanwhile BJP activists distributed sweets at many places and celebrated the scrapping of article 370 and paving the way for converting Jammu and Kashmir into two Union territories. "It is like Diwali advancing this year as the long pending demand of scrapping of article 370 has been fulfilled by Narendra Modi government. This step will go a long way in sending a strong message to neighbouring country Pakistan which always tries to destabilise peace in the mountainous state", said Barnala district BJP president Yadwinder Shunty and senior activist Dhiraj Kumar Daddahoor.
Shiv Sewa Sangh members Satish Cheema, Vipan Dharni, Kamal Gupta said that we are organising langar(community kitchen)during Amarnath Yatra for over two decades. We had to face a lots of hardships due to uncooperative approach of the authorities. Now as the Narendra Modi government has scrapped the special status we will be able to serve the devotees with more devotion and with freedom, which we wanted for the last many years".
