PANCHKULA: Former MC councillor of Kalka has been duped of Rs 20 lakh by a Manimajra-based person on the pretext of sending his son to Australia to. A case has been registered in this regard.
A complaint was given to the cops by Kulwinder Singh of Kalka in which he said he met a person, Ajmat Singh of Manimajra, who told him to send his 24-year old son Upinder to some other country.

The alleged accused demanded Rs 20 lakh to send his son to Australia and the victim paid him the amount in two transactions on January 30, 2019.
Later, he came to know that the accused had not done anything and had duped him of the said amount. When he asked for a refund, the accused threatened him with dire consequences.
A complaint was given to the cops, on the basis of which a case has been registered under Sections 406 and 420 of the IPC at Kalka police station.
In another case a private travel agent took Rs 4.35 lakh from two different families for their trips to Dubai and North-East, but later the agent switched off his mobile phones. Following this, the families contacted police and two cases of fraud were registered in this regard.
The first complaint was given to the cops by Vikas Bangar, a resident of Power Colony. In his complaint he has stated that he had contacted Sandeep Kumar, a travel agent working for Yatra Global, who showed him a package for Dubai for six adults and two kids for Rs 4.26 lakh. Bangar and his friend showed interest to book the plan and paid Rs 3.05 lakh to him in advance as necessary payments. Following this, the agent did not respond to his calls nor replied to his messages.

Similarly, another complaint was moved by Surinder Mohan Dilbagi, a resident of Sector 12-A, Panchkula. He is working as deputy director at the BBMB, Chandigarh, and based on the reference of Bangar booked a trip to the North-East for his family by paying Rs 1.30 lakh to Sandeep. But in this case also the latter did not respond to the calls after getting the money. When the victim inquired about the accused at hotels where he made their bookings, the hotel people accused him of non-payment of Rs 8 lakh by him.
Cops based on the complaints registered two cases against the travel agent under Section 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the IPC at the Sector 5 police station and initiated the investigation in the case.
