Punjab medical university VC resigns, says unable to tolerate health minister's behaviour

Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) vice-chancellor Dr Raj Bahadur on Saturday tendered his resignation from his post, saying he was unable to tolerate the behavior of Punjab health minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra.

BATHINDA: Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) vice-chancellor Dr Raj Bahadur on Saturday tendered his resignation from his post, saying he was unable to tolerate the behaviour of Punjab health minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra.Dr Raj Bahadur said that in his entire career spanning over 44 years he never had faced such behaviour.Jauremajra on a visit to Guru Gobind Singh medical college Faridkot, a constituent college of Baba Farid university of health sciences, on Friday got angry over complaints of cleanliness not being kept in the hospital.He asked the vice-chancellor to lay on a bed meant for patients."I have served in 13 institutes and will continue to serve the people," the VC said.Apart from Dr Raj Bahadur, his secretary OP Chaudhary too, has tendered his resignation.Amritsar government medical college principal and medical surgeon too learnt to have sent their resignation.After Dr Raj Bahadur put in his papers, a score of medical associations, including Indian medical association, Indian orthopedic association, Punjab civil medical services association, Federation of All India medical association have condemned the behaviour of the minister and have urged the chief minister to ask the minister to apologise for the behavior.Meanwhile, Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring met Dr Raj Bahadur at Mohali when Dr Raj Bahadur broke down and said I am feeling the pain and have written to the chief minister.
