City residents enjoyed the beauty of colourful flowers on a sunny day on Sunday at the chrysanthemum show organized at the Terrace Garden in Sector 33.

CHANDIGARH: City residents enjoyed the beauty of colourful flowers on a sunny day on Sunday at the chrysanthemum show organized at the Terrace Garden in Sector 33.
Everyone was delighted at the fragrance, splendour and sheer variety of chrysanthemums varying from button sized ones to 14 centimetre ones. And things got a Punjabi "tadka" as students of Gurukul school, Madanpura, and Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 10, Chandigarh, performed bhangra and gidda.

While little ones were enchanted with the varied colours, the older lot walked around the 'flower valley,' looking at chrysanthemums put on display by individuals and government departments and corporations like CITCO besides the Panjab University.
People who have been visiting the show for years also appreciated the new flower arrangements. P R Dudi, a resident of Sector 31, Chandigarh said, "It feels good to be amongst so many flowers. Every year we wait for this show and like every year the displays are beautiful this year too. The entrance gate has also been done up very nicely. There is a riot of colour all around." Archana Chauhan, city resident chirped, "The flower boat is beautiful." Some visitors wanted that flower arrangements should be expanded to other two terraces of garden as well.
"I have been visiting the show for the last five years and this time I have got along my mom and my daughter as well. The way various colours and flowers are sued in various decorations is just amazing. It not only looks beautiful but also is soothing to the eyes."
Sunday being the concluding day, prizes were also given to the winning participants. The title, "Flower of the show," went to Panjab University where as the "King of the show,' "Princess of the show," and "Prince of the show" came Virinder Singh's a?? a resident of sector 8 a?? way, along with 19 other prizes. Other than these, prizes to other winning institutions and individuals were also distributed. A floral quiz was also organized for school children on the last day of the show.
