Republic Day parade: Punjab tableau secures third spot

Chandigarh: Punjab’s tableau, depicting the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, secured third prize at the Republic Day parade in New Delhi. Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh lauded the state information and public relations department on the occasion.The award was conferred by Union defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi and received by secretary information and public relations Gurkirat Kirpal Singh. Punjab had also secured third position in 1967 and in 1982 Republic Day parades.Capt Amarinder said the state’s tableau was a tribute to the centenary commemoration of Jallainwala massacre, and the prize would go a long way in imbibing the spirit of nationalism and patriotism among the younger generation.
