Saini flags off special train from Sirsa to Nanded
Hisar: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday said that pilgrimages play a vital role in uniting society and connecting the younger generation with the nation's cultural roots and values. He said spiritual journeys not only strengthen faith but also inspire people with renewed energy, awareness and a sense of purpose. The chief minister was addressing devotees during a function organised in Sirsa to flag off a special pilgrimage train to Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib, Nanded, Maharashtra, under the "Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana". More than 800 pilgrims from different parts of Haryana boarded the special train flagged off by the chief minister. Highlighting the significance of spiritual tourism, Saini said the state govt is committed to ensuring that no devotee is deprived of pilgrimage due to financial constraints. "Pilgrimages are a powerful medium of social harmony and cultural awakening. They help the younger generation reconnect with Indian traditions, spirituality and heritage," he said.During the event, the chief minister distributed railway tickets to six pilgrims and also interacted with passengers and railway officials before the train departed. He participated in the Ardas ceremony and extended his greetings to the devotees undertaking the journey. Referring to Sirsa's historical and spiritual importance in Sikh history, Saini said the city holds a sacred connection with Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He noted that Gurudwara Sri Chilla Sahib stands as a symbol of the Guru's visit to the region during his journey towards the south in 1706.He announced that another special pilgrimage train would be flagged off for Somnath Temple in Gujarat on June 8 under the same scheme. Earlier, special trains and buses were also arranged for Ayodhya Dham and Prayagraj Kumbh. The chief minister said the state govt provides financial assistance under various pilgrimage schemes, including Rs 50,000 for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and Rs 6,000 per pilgrim for visits to Hazur Sahib, Hemkund Sahib, Patna Sahib and Nankana Sahib.Several dignitaries, including former Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee president Jagdish Singh Jhinda, former MP Sunita Duggal and other political, religious and social leaders, were present on the occasion.
