CHANDIGARH: The AICC media incharge and senior Congress MLA from Haryana Randeep Singh Surjewala on Sunday cautioned chief minister
Manohar Lal Khattar against not waking up to the issue of crime against women before the people start identifying the state as rape and murder capital.
Surjewala, who was addressing ‘Adhikar Rally’ organized by Aman Cheema in Pehowa categorically elaborated upon Hisar’s Nirbhaya incident and the Pradyuman murder case while referring to crime incidents. “Even children are not safe in schools as criminals have become fearless. Police has failed to reach out to criminals. Questions have been raised over the role of policemen probing the cases,” said Surjewala.
People voted BJP to power as an alternative, but unfortunately this government gets into hibernation mode after having a few minutes of ‘chintan’ and ‘manthan’, he added. Surjewala said that youth were being forced to resort to agitations for their rights, poor being exploited and traders were living in a state of fear with regard to new taxes, he added. The MLA elaborated upon the problems faced by farmers as well as the labourers due to non-availability of resources.
Referring to elevation of
Rahul Gandhi as AICC president, Surjewala said that now the new script of modern India would be written and
Rahul would take the party to new heights.
