Youth shot dead in Amritsar, murder initially mistaken for accident

Amritsar: A youth, identified as Amarjot Singh, was shot dead on Mehsimpura Road in Amritsar, with the case initially mistaken for a road accident.Senior superintendent of police (rural) Suhail Qasim Mir said the incident occurred on Friday evening on an isolated stretch of road. Passersby spotted a motorcycle lying on the road and found the youth in a pool of blood, following which he was rushed to a hospital.Police initially treated the case as an accident, but later found bullet injury marks on the body, confirming it was a murder.A case has been registered and investigations are underway. Police said they have developed some leads and are working to identify and arrest the accused.
