Chennai rains: Hundreds stranded inside Chennai airport

CHENNAI: Hundreds of passengers are stranded inside domestic and international terminals of Chennai airport as flight operations have been suspended.
People stayed over night as many are not able to reach the city due to dearth of taxis.
An airline official said that, "Runway and taxiway are flooded. Water is not receding as Adyar river is overflowing.A review meeting going to be held at 9am. But it looks like operations may have to be suspended for the whole day."
He said that operational area and apron are flooded making ground operation like baggage loading, running shuttle buses impossible. "Flood water is entering the airport from the city side also as parts of Pallavaram south of airport campus is flooded," the official added.
