CBSE class 12 students likely to face more last-minute hassle in revaluation process

Chennai: CBSE extended the deadline for Class XII students to apply for scanned copies of their answer sheets from May 23 to May 24, but several students who applied on May 20 said they are still waiting to receive the scanned copies.
With applications for revaluation scheduled to begin on May 26, parents said students would be left with little time to review their papers. “I applied for the scanned copies on May 20. The payment was processed as well. We are yet to receive the answer sheets. Only after getting them can my son analyse the paper, discuss it with teachers and decide whether to apply for revaluation,” said R Vidhya, parent of a student of KSN Higher Secondary School.
CBSE opened the application portal for answer sheet scans from May 19-22. However, repeated technical glitches on the portal and payment delays prompted CBSE to extend it by one more day. Further traffic and issues led to another extension, announced on Friday, to May 24.
While the CBSE board and the regional office in Chennai do not state a timeframe for providing the answer sheets, city school heads said that it generally took 24 to 36 hours for the board to process the copies. Parents find this “unacceptable” as the answer sheets were already scanned during the evaluation — as CBSE introduced on-screen marking from this year for evaluation.
“Teachers require time too. Several students may be reaching out to seek their guidance,” said V G Deepa, parent of a student from Vellammal Bodhi Campus. “Besides, several issues with scanned answer sheets are already being discussed on social media — some are blurred, and some pages appear to be unmarked. If a parent applies tomorrow and receives the copies only on May 25 or 26, it will be too late,” she said.
A section of school heads said CBSE was likely to extend the revaluation deadline as well. “There is only a one-day gap between the last date for applying for scanned copies, May 24, and the start of the revaluation process on May 26. That is grossly insufficient,” said the principal of a school in Adyar.
