CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister and DMK leader M K Stalin on Tuesday thanked the people for making the party victorious in the urban local body polls and for giving their mandate to the Dravidian model governance.
“I appealed to the people to give victory to our alliance, and we are waiting to serve you (people). The people gave their mandate. It is a certificate of good conduct from the people for the nine months of the (DMK) government.

It was a recognition given to the Dravidian model governance,” Stalin told reporters in Chennai.
Applauding the leaders of the alliance parties, Stalin said it was a victory for the secular front, their leaders and their campaigns. “The cooperation of the leaders of the alliance parties is one of the main reasons for the victory in the civil polls,” he said
“People are confident that the Dravidian model government will fulfil the promises. The party has been living up to the words and it would fulfil all the promises (in the days to come), he said. “We are always ready to live up to to the trust of the people. We have been implementing several historically significant schemes and will continue to implement such schemes.
"We breached the AIADMK's bastion," the DMK leader said pointing out the massive victory in Coimbatore, Salem and other urban local bodies in the western belt.
Extending his wish to the winning candidates of the party, Stalin urged them to celebrate their victory in a way that should not cause inconvenience to the people and attract criticism.
“You (winning candidates) should be truthful to the people and address their grievances immediately. You should ensure that no complaints should come against you. I will closely monitor everyone and take action whoever it might be,” he said.
He reiterated that the government would work in such a manner that would make the people vote for the party and make the people, who did not vote for the party, regret. “I am more excited to meet people. I met the people as mayor, MLA, minister, deputy CM and CM. Since there was a restriction due to Covid-19 pandemic, I didn’t want to cause unwanted inconvenience to people by undertaking (field) campaigns,” he said.
