Feasibility study announced for computer-based tests

Chennai: Finance minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan on Wednesday announced preparation of evaluation reports for providing valuable evidence on cost effectiveness of large public spending of all state sponsored schemes with a budget outlay of over 150 crore. “A feasibility study will be done for computer-based tests by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission,” the minister said against the backdrop of allegations of scam in the conduct of examinations.
Thiaga Rajan said the government would also set up a Centre for Innovation in Governance in the state planning commission under the Tamil Nadu Innovative Initiatives to work with cutting edge institutions. He announced that pensioners would be allowed to submit life certificates throughout the year.
Thiaga Rajan announced inclusion of eastern ghats in the special area development programme. Ooty would be conserved and a Nilgiris heritage museum and an experience centre would be set up to mark 200 years of celebration to showcase the rich tribal natural and cultural history of the Nilgiris at a cost of ₹10 crore each under special area development programme.
