CHENNAI: The police have arrested a Tamil film director and five others, including a cine technician, after a noisy fight between the neighbours in a Vadapalani apartment got out of hand. The six were later granted bail.
The tussle between a resident and the residents' association in the apartment complex was brought to the police station on Monday. Padmamagan, director of the recent film Ammuvagiya Naan', is the secretary of the residents association at an apartment complex in Vadapalani.
On Sunday, some children in the complex noticed a condom and began playing with it after filling the balloon-like thing with water.

Their shocked parents then approached the residents' association.
The association members enquired with the children and learnt that they had found the condom in front of the house of Lakshmi, who was once a hairdresser in the cine industry.
Padmamagan and the association members called Lakshmi to question her on the issue. "Lakshmi and her daughter Durga Devi came to the association room and tried to attack me. When my wife tried to stop them, they attacked her. As the association members objected to this act, the two women claimed their chain had been stolen inside the association hall. I asked the members to stay inside and told the security guard to close the door from the outside. Later, the police were informed. After a few minutes, sub-inspector Pushparaj attached to the Vadapalani police station arrived. The two women then staged a drama in front of the police. They claimed that they had been attacked inside the closed room," Padmamagan told TOI.

"The police officer went to her house and came back after sometime. On Monday, we went to the police station and were told by the ACP to come back the next morning. We went there at 11 a.m. on Tuesday and waited till 3 p.m. The ACP came and asked us to come back at 5 p.m. and we returned home. Meanwhile, SI Pushparaj went to our complex and stopped my wife from coming to the police station. Later, the police said that as directed by the DCP they had registered two separate cases against the residents' association and Lakshmi," Padmamagan said.
Police said they registered two separate cases and arrested Lakshmi, Durga Devi, Padmamagan, Parasuram, president of the residents' association, and Vetriselvan, treasurer.
