CHENNAI: Security was beefed up at the official residence of Justice M Sundar of the
Madras high court, who delivered a split verdict in the 18 AIADMK MLAs' disqualification case, brought to the notice of Chief Justice Indira Banerjee that he received an anonymous letter, which issued death threat to his family members.
Policemen were posted near the Greenways Road bungalow, and the stretch leading to it was barricaded.
Police sources said that the judge lived with his wife and daughter in the residence.
On June 14, Justice Sundar, in his 135-page order, had said that speaker Dhanapal's order of disqualifying the MLAs "deserved to be set aside on grounds of perversity, non-compliance with principles of natural justice, mala fides and violation of the constitutional mandate".
