Man gets 23 years jail for sexually assaulting child in 2021

Chennai: A city court found a 26-year-old man guilty of sexually assaulting a minor and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 23 years. The court also ordered payment of 2 lakh as compensation to the survivor's family.The special judge for cases under the Pocso Act, S Padma, passed the order on Wednesday. According to the prosecution, represented by special public prosecutor S Anitha, the victim was studying in Class VII when the incident occurred. On Jan 17, 2021, the convict lured the girl and led her into his house, promising to arrange for her to watch the Tamil film ‘Master'. While she was watching the movie, he sexually assaulted her. Her parents, who were searching for her around the house, lodged a complaint with local police. When she returned home and narrated the incident, her parents lodged a complaint at an all women police station.tnn
