CHENNAI: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) sleuths have arrested six Nigerian nationals, including three women, and a Chennai-based man for possession of drugs. One kg amphetamine, 317 gram of MDMA pills and 7.5 gram of cocaine were seized from the accused identified as Favour Oke, Precious Nkwmakonamu, Namukwaya Ritah, Celestine Anugwa, Chibuze Chinonso Emmanuel and Okey Kingsley Bothlome.
Recently, NCB sleuths secured a resident of Royapettah in Chennai. Cocaine and a few grams of MDMA pills were seized from him.
Inquiries revealed that he sourced the drugs from a few Nigerian nationals based in Bengaluru. On Tuesday, NCB sleuths secured three Nigerians who arrived at Koyambedu from Bengaluru by bus and seized 400 gram of amphetamine from them.
With their confession, NCB sleuths rushed to Bengaluru and secured three other Nigerian nationals. Some more amphetamine and MDMA pills were seized from them. "This particular consignment has been routed from Delhi to Chennai via Ahmedabad and Bengaluru," said NCB director P Aravindhan. The NCB has not revealed the identity of the Chennai man as he had to be interrogated further. "He seems to have been involved in the crime for the last few months to supply drugs to rave parties," added the official.
