CHENNAI: A major inter-state crime unfolded in a filmy style in Namakkal district when Tamil Nadu police intercepted a gang of truck-borne burglars from Rajasthan while it was returning from Kerala, where it had burgled three ATM machines. The truck was carrying cash of more than Rs 65 lakh and one unbroken ATM machine as well.
The truck was spotted near Kumarapalayam in Namakkal district.

When police tried to stop it, it sped away, causing many accidents on the way. Police had to open fire to stop the vehicle.
One member of the gang was killed in police firing, and at least five have been arrested. Police said the ATMs were burgled in Thrissur in Kerala, and there were at least seven occupants in the van.
An examination of the truck revealed one car inside, along with an unbroken ATM machine and more cash. The exact amount of cash is yet to be ascertained.
