Tasmac scam: ED withdraws permit for searches

Chennai: Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday informed Madras high court that it has withdrawn the authorization issued to conduct searches on the premises connected to businessman Vikram Ravindran in the TASMAC liquor scam.Recording the submissions, the first bench of Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice G Arul Murugan closed two petitions moved by Vikram challenging the ED proceedings.On another plea moved by film producer Akash Baskaran challenging the searches on his premises, ED informed the court that all the documents and other materials seized during the search were returned to him as per the directions of the court.The Supreme Court also dismissed an appeal moved by the ED challenging an interim order passed by another division bench of the court, staying all further proceedings against the petitioner in the case, his counsel said.Recording the submissions, the bench directed the parties to complete the pleadings and posted the petition for final hearing in the second week of Jan 2026.
