Drunk man beaten to death by brother-in-law, three others near Namakkal
NAMAKKAL: A drunk man was beaten to death by his brother-in-law and three others near Kumarapalayam in Namakkal district on Monday night. After the murder, his brother-in-law and others surrendered before the Kumarapalayam police on Tuesday morning. The murdered man has been identified as Susai Balan, 40, of Sadaiampalayam Anna Teresa Road. Balan, who was an alcoholic, was living alone after separating from his wife, Philomena Mary.

Police said Balan used to fight with his neighbours after being drunk. On Monday night, he argued with his brother-in-law (wife’s brother) Francis Bhaskar, 38, who was his neighbour, alleging that the latter had placed a log on his driveway. Bhaskar informed his brother-in-law (wife’s brother) Aloysius Raj, 32. Aloysius Raj arrived there with his friends, Manikandan, 32, and Manoj Kumar, 31. Four of them attacked Balan with logs. "Susai Balan suffered serious injuries and fell unconscious. He was taken to Kumarapalayam Government Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival," said an officer at the Kumarapalayam police station.Police arrested Bhaskar and others after they surrendered before them.
