ERODE: A 15-year-old girl died on Saturday morning after a portion of the compound wall of her house fell on her in Erode on Friday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Kanika, daughter of Viswanathan of Chunnambu Odai. She was a Class IX student at Agraharam Government Higher Secondary School.
“Kanika returned home after school on Friday evening. Later, she stepped out of the house to do something when a portion of the compound wall of her house fell on her. She suffered head injuries," said an officer at the Karungalpalayam police station.
Kanika’s parents rushed her to Erode Government General Hospital from where she was referred to Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital. "She died in the Salem hospital in the early hours of Saturday," the officer added.
The Karungalpalayam police registered a case.
