Nine youths booked for reckless stunts on road in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: The Peelamedu police on Saturday registered a case against a group of youths after a video of their reckless stunts on a public road went viral on social media.The matter came to light when police noticed the video circulating online. The footage showed nine youths standing on top of a moving SUV. They were seen dancing and holding onto the vehicle dangerously, while the driver applied sudden brakes, putting them at the risk of serious accident. After the video surfaced, police collected CCTV footage. Investigation revealed that the incident was reported on Avinashi Road near the city airport. The CCTV footage confirmed that the vehicle was being driven in a negligent and reckless manner on a public road, significantly endangering human lives. Based on these findings, police registered a case and initiated further legal action against those involved. According to police, who traced the vehicle with the help of its registration number, Chandeef took the SUV on rent for two days from a rental firm and handed it over to Santosh on Friday. "Santosh then drove the vehicle, while the other youths stood on top of it and danced. We are yet to get the complete details of the youths involved in the incident." Police have registered a case under Sections 281, 195 and 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and are investigating to identify the others involved.
