Unable to land dream job, engineering graduate jumps to death

COIMBATORE: A 26-year-old engineering graduate, who was not able to grab a job that pays well, committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of a building at Athipalayam Pirivu near Ganapathy here on Friday. In a suicide note, he expressed the wish to donate his organs.
The deceased was identified as K Mohanraj from Netaji Road in Seeranaickenpalayam.“He had completed BE (Mechanical) a few years ago and was looking for a job in various sectors in Chennai and Coimbatore. He had joined as a CNC machine operator in a motor and pump manufacturing company in Coimbatore two months ago for a salary of Rs 9,000 per month and was staying in a mansion at Athipalayam Pirivu,” a police officer said.
Whenever his parents asked him about his salary details, Mohanraj used to fight with them as he was frustrated over his earning capacity, the officer said. “He was at his room in the mansion on Thursday night. On Friday around 12am, he jumped from the third floor of the mansion. He died on the spot due to serious head injuries. Inmates of the mansion noticed the body at least five to six hours later,” the officer told TOI.
Saravanampatti police inspector P Maheswaran and team rushed to the spot and found a suicide note from the shirt pocket. “This is my personal decision. No one is responsible for this. I am weak and fragile. I don’t want to be a burden to my parents. I don’t want to be a burden to anyone. Donate my organs if possible,” Mohanraj said in the note.
The body was sent to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. It was later handed over to the family members.
Saravanampatti police have registered case under Section 174 CrPC. Further investigation is on.
