Coimbatore: The body of a wall painter, who succumbed to injuries after accidentally falling from the fourth floor of an apartment while at work, was abandoned on a chair on the street till police and ‘108’ ambulance reached the spot.
The Vadavalli police have booked the property developer for inhumanly abandoning the body on the street for an hour.
The deceased was identified as P Chandran, 50, of Ganapathy Maa Nagar in the city.
On Friday, Chandran, his friends Haridass and
Murali were painting a private apartment on Vembu Avenue near Vadavalli. Police said M Srinivasa Prabhu, 50, is the builder-cum-owner of the four-storey apartment. Around 9.50am, Chandran accidentally fell while painting the exterior of the fourth floor and died on the spot.
“Srinivasa Prabhu left the body on a chair on the street. The body was later covered with a bed cover. The body remained on the street as the property developer failed to keep the body inside the apartment premises,” a source said.
Meanwhile, videos and photos of the body seated on a chair on the street went viral on social media on Friday afternoon.
The ‘108’ ambulance staff declared that Chandran was dead. The body was sent to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for a postmortem.
Meanwhile, the Vadavalli police registered a case against Srinivasa Prabhu under Section 304 (A) of the Indian Penal Code. Police said Srinivasa Prabhu disrespected the dead person.
