Woman aged 90 years found murdered near Namakkal
NAMAKKAL: A 90-year-old woman living alone was found murdered at her home near Tiruchengode in Namakkal district on Tuesday morning. Police said three sovereigns of gold ornaments which the woman, Rathinam of in Kali Velampalayam, had been wearing were missing, raising suspicion that she was murdered for her valuables.The murder came to light when Sasikumar, who delivered milk to her regularly, found the house locked from outside. Sasikumar asked neighbours, but they yielded no information about her whereabouts. Neighbours said they did not know where she had gone. After noticing blood on the door, they alerted Rathinammal’s grandson, P Dhanasekaran, 37, who runs a weaving mill in Thokkavadi.

Dhanasekaran went inside and found Rathinammal’s body. He informed the Tiruchengode rural police. Police reached the spot and initiated an inquiry.District superintendent of police S Vimala and other officers also visited the spot. Forensic science experts collected fingerprint samples. A sniffer dog named Seema was brought from Namakkal. The dog sniffed near the house, ran for about a kilometre and stopped. A case has been registered, and further investigations are on.
