Woman snatches 3 gold chains at temple festival

Coimbatore: The Kottur police on Wednesday arrested a 36-year-old woman for snatching gold chains amounting to 13 sovereigns from three women during a temple festival.
The accused was identified as I Gowthami, of Narikuravar Colony at Kovilpatti in Tuticorin district. Police said kumbabishekam (consecration ceremony) was held at the Somandurai Anjaneyar temple on February 1, 2023.Gowthambi snatched gold chains from three women devotees, Palaniyathal, 75, Sivabakiyam, 65, and Thulasiyammal, 75, who had come for the ceremony.
All three devotees had lodged complaints with the Kottur police who registered three separate cases under section 379 of the IPC. Police arrested Gowthami on Wednesday and recovered 13 sovereigns of gold ornaments from her. She was lodged at the Coimbatore central prison. TNN
