After a hiatus of 12 years, the Uttarakhand government hosted the Uttarakhand Sahitya Gaurav Samman to recognise and honour accomplished litterateurs from the state.

DEHRADUN: After a hiatus of 12 years, the Uttarakhand government hosted the Uttarakhand Sahitya Gaurav Samman to recognise and honour accomplished litterateurs from the state.
Addressing the gathering, chief minister (CM) Pushkar Singh Dhami said, "Devbhoomi has always been a fertile ground for literary creations, attracting litterateurs who find creative energy in the mantras and shlokas recited by sages."
The recipients of the Sahitya Gaurav Samman for the year 2022 were Santosh Tivari, Amrita Pandey, Prakash Chandra Tivari, Damodar Joshi, Rajendra Singh Bora, Narendra Kathait, Mahaveer Ravanlta, Gurdip Singh, and Rajesh Anand.

In the presence of Uttarakhand's language minister Subodh Uniyal, former director general of police Anil Raturi, and former vice-chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi VishwaVidyalaya in Wardha, Girishwar Mishra, CM Dhami presented each Sahitya Gaurav laureate with a prize of Rs 1 lakh and a memento.
Punjabi 'ghazalgo' Gurdip Singh, a resident of Resham Majri village in Dehradun district , became the first Punjabi litterateur to be conferred the award. Minister Uniyal said, "With this award, we aim to help the writers who despite coming from a humble background, work tirelessly throughout their lives to promote their native language."
