DEHRADUN: In a vibrant Passing out Parade (PoP), 377 cadets, including 89 from eight friendly foreign nations, passed out from the Indian Military Academy (
IMA
) on Saturday as
Army officers.
Of the 288 Indian cadets, the maximum, 50, were from UP, followed by 33 from
Uttarakhand
and 28 from Bihar. Besides, 25 cadets were from Haryana, 22 from
Maharashtra, 21 from Punjab, 20 from Rajasthan and 15 from Delhi. Similarly, six cadets were from Jammu and
Kashmir.
Among foreign cadets, 43 were from Afghanistan, 19 from Tajikistan and 18 from Bhutan. Also, three each were from Maldives and Sri Lanka, and one each from Kyrgyzstan, Nepal and Tanzania. Among the 288 Indian cadets, 262 were from the IMA’s regular course while 26 were from the technical graduate course.
'Having strategic mindset important'General Officer-Commanding-in-Chief of Indian Army's South Western Command, Lt Gen Amardeep Singh Bhinder, was the parade reviewing officer. Addressing the cadets after the parade, Lt Gen Bhinder said that "the dynamics of war have changed today, thanks to new technologies."
"Physical and mental toughness alone are not enough to tackle modem-day threats of the country, but as military leaders, officers will have to develop a strategic mindset, cultivate an adaptive temperament and acquire the mental resilience essential to hone the skills for military leadership," Lt Gen Bhinder said, adding that "the advancement in technology has often been driven by military dynamics and that modern day military leaders must embrace this technological drift and understand the seamless synergy required between men and machines."
