State approves 1.9cr for rehabilitation of landslide-affected families in Chamoli
Dehradun: The state govt on Monday approved Rs 1.9 crore for the rehabilitation and relocation of 43 families affected by landslides in two villages Jyotirmath (formerly Joshimath) tehsil. The aid will support 40 families from Pagnau village and three from the Talla Badginda locality in Urgam village.
The approval was granted by the District-Level Rehabilitation Committee, chaired by DM Sandeep Tiwari. While land selection for the relocation of remaining families in Pagnau village is still underway, the DM directed the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Jyotirmath to expedite fund disbursal and ensure essential infrastructure at the new sites.
District disaster management officer NK Joshi said that the sanctioned funds have been released to the tehsil administration for immediate implementation.
Pagnau village was among the worst-hit during this year's monsoon, with repeated landslides forcing most residents to abandon their homes and seek shelter in temporary accommodations.
