120 mist spray systems installed at IGI Airport

New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday inaugurated 120 mist spray systems installed by GMR Group at Indira Gandhi International Airport and described the initiative as a significant step towards curbing air pollution in the capital."Our govt is working on all fronts, in collaboration with all stakeholders, to control pollution in Delhi. This initiative for dust mitigation in the airport area is commendable and strengthens our resolve for a clean and safe Delhi," said CM Gupta. South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, who was also present at the event, said the mist spray systems will help check flight disruptions by controlling smog. "Flights departing from Delhi will no longer face disruptions," said Bidhuri.
The mist systems, CM said, would enhance air quality for travellers and strengthen Delhi's environmental credentials.CM said the installation would be scaled up to 600 poles to improve dust control in and around the airport. She also outlined the govt's broader clean-air roadmap, including full electrification of the public bus fleet by 2029, expansion of metro network, development of EV charging infrastructure, deployment of over 1,000 water sprinklers, and the introduction of AI-based dust monitoring at construction sites. CM added that real-time air quality monitoring network was also expanded to 46 metro stations. Compliance with pollution-control norms was also enforced through the ‘Vayu Rakshak' initiative. These measures, she said, would help reduce pollution and move Delhi closer to becoming one of the country's most liveable cities.
