NEW DELHI: A man posing as an LIC agent robbed the house of a media consultant in C R Park after hypnotizing her mother and grandmother.
The victim, P Bhattacharya, said her father had passed away last month and they had applied for his LIC dues. "We had received calls from an LIC agent. The caller asked me about each family member and their daily routine.
I gave out the details thinking it was a genuine need of the agent," said Bhattacharya.
On Sunday, an "LIC agent" came to their residence. "He knew details like the day my father passed away, his policy number and other things," said Bhattacharya, adding, "He asked me to get some documents photocopied. When I returned, I saw that my mother and grandmother lay hypnotized and unable to speak. The gold jewelleries they had been wearing were missing and almirahs were ransacked. The accused took only gold."
A case of theft has been registered. Bhattacharya has sought help from the area joint commissioner of police, Sanjay Beniwal saying they were living in a state of "perpetual fear" as the accused had access to family's important documents.
