NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has recovered the three ice-picks which were used to stab a 72-year-old woman over 50 times in East Delhi's Mandawali earlier this week.
On Thursday, police had arrested four people involved in the crime. Three of them had attacked the woman.
Police have also identified the man whom the accused had consulted before committing the crime.
The man used to work as a clerk with an advocate and was known to arrested accused Monu Dedha.
On June 20, Sudha Gupta was murdered by three men when she was going home on her scooter alone. The three accused who hatched the conspiracy to eliminate her were later arrested. The trio was identified as Monu Dedha (26), Pushpendra Yadav (18) and Sarthak Nagar (19). Their fourth associate, Vikas Chaudhary (20), who helped them flee to a village in Haryana was also arrested. While Dedha works as a property dealer, Nagar and Chaudhary sell milk for livelihood.
Police said the trio had bought three ice-picks in order to kill the woman. The accused men wanted to acquire the woman's properties after her death. Before committing the murder, Dedha who was in close contact with advocates consulted a man who worked with an advocate to decide if he should use a firearm to murder the woman or another weapon. The person also advised that even if they went to jail they would come out after some years and can acquire the woman's properties then.
Gupta owned many properties. Dedha was aware that Gupta used to put them on rent and was eyeing her properties, which were worth crores. The accused also watched videos on YouTube on how to commit a murder before finally executing their plan. Dedha, Yadav and Nagar bought three ice-picks and the trio attacked the woman together to ensure she was dead. After committing the crime, Chaudhary met the trio and dropped them to Gurgaon from where they booked a taxi through a cab aggregator and fled. The trio stayed at the house of an associate in Rithoj village of Haryana, police said. Their associate who gave them shelter is yet to be nabbed.
