New Delhi: Addressing the Mahila Yuva Sammelan organised by BJP's youth wing on Friday, MP Anurag Thakur said the Aam Aadmi Party had been consistently anti-women and cited some incidents, including the alleged assault on Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal at former CM Arvind Kejriwal's residence.
He also highlighted AAP's unmet commitment to provide Rs 1,000 to women and Delhi govt's alleged shortcomings in improving water distribution and women's safety.
"Their anti-woman stance goes to the extent that they appoint a woman as chief minister but don't showcase her in any promises or guarantees," said Thakur, alluding to Atishi. "AAP-da ko saaf kar do, hum hawa, paani, sadke aur Yamuna sabko saaf karke dikhayenge," said Thakur at the event at NDMC Convention Centre.
He continued, "On the one hand, we have PM Modi, who started ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' 10 years ago from Haryana, where the women to men ratio was 830. He worked hard to reduce the gap to 980 women per 1,000 men. This progressive govt appointed deserving women to higher positions. Then there is a govt in Delhi which stops women from progressing. They allegedly assaulted MP Swati Maliwal and neglected to raise Asha workers' wages despite commitments," he alleged.
There was no comment from AAP.
