NEW DELHI: A day after the Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Laxmi Nagar, Vinod Kumar Binny, lashed out at chief minister Arvind Kejriwal for being "dictatorial", the party started disciplinary proceedings against him and served him a show-cause notice.
The notice served to Binny by Pankaj Gupta, the national secretary of AAP, said that during Binny's press conference on Thursday, he made a series of statements and allegations which prima facie bring disrepute to the party's image, in violation of the code of conduct.
Binny has been asked to submit his explanation to the party by Saturday on 5pm failing which action will be taken against him.
Sources said that the disciplinary action was only procedural and there was little chance of Binny staying with the party after the incident. Binny himself had said that he was a "true soldier of the party" and had no intentions of quitting.
He has threatened to go on indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar from January 27 if the government failed to act on the water and power issues raised by him in a press conference on Thursday. He accused the party of lying to Delhiites as it had not implemented the promises made to the people during its poll campaign. "I will write to the party seeking an explanation of article VI (A) (i) that it has invoked against me. I can only respond to the charges when they clarify this issue. However, the issues raised by me still stand. There is no ambiguity in the charges that I have levelled against the party," said Binny.
Binny has been accused by the party for being disgruntled on being denied a Lok Sabha ticket. He had reportedly been upset with the party on failing to make it to the Delhi cabinet, though Binny has denied these charges.
