NEW DELHI: A crime branch team arrested a 38-year-old man allegedly for supplying and using counterfeit Indian currency. The accused, Wasim Ahmed, was arrested from Nigambdh Ghat on Sunday and fake currency notes worth Rs 1.25 lakh in denominations of Rs 50, 100 and 500 were seized from him.
The police said accused, originally from Shahjahanpur in UP, came to Delhi in search of a job.
But as he was illiterate, he could not find any employment. He joined a gang of drug dealers operated by one Jubail. Cops said in Kanpur he met one Chacha who used to print fake Indian currency notes and started working with him to distribute the notes in Delhi.
