NEW DELHI: Expect traffic snarls in central Delhi as police have planned major diversions for the trade fair starting on Saturday. An alternate route plan has been issued for vehicles not heading towards the fair to avoid congestions.
Police officials said that during the trade fair, no vehicle will be allowed to park anywhere on Mathura Road and Bhairon Marg.
There will also be no parking allowed by visitors on Sher Shah Road, Purana Quila Road, Bhagwan Dass Road and Tilak Marg.
No U-turns will be allowed on Mathura Road as well as the right turn towards Purana Quila Road and Bhagwan Dass Road. Those attending the trade fair can use the zoo parking on Mathura Road.
For the visitors using own vehicles, Park and Ride facility will be provided at two locations from where there will be Free shuttle services will be provided to take visitors to Pragati Maidan. "Traffic congestion is expected on Mathura Road, Bhairon Marg, Ring Road, Shershah Road and Purana Quila Road on the days of the fair which attracts about one lakh visitors daily," said a police officer. Improperly parked vehicles will be towed away and will attract a fine of Rs 600 excluding the towing charges.
Those using Delhi Metro can deboard at Pragati Maidan station. Those travelling by DTC buses can get of at the bus stops on Mathura Road and Bhairon Marg.
Officials said that autorickshaws would not be allowed to stop outside Pragati Maidan, instead a pre-paid TSR facility will be available for visitors at Gate No 9 on Mathura Road and Gate No 2 on Bhairon Marg.
