A teenager, detained in a north Delhi juvenile home in connection with an attempted murder case, was killed during a dispute with other inmates over bathroom access. The incident occurred at the Special Home for Boys, leading to the victim being declared dead at Hindu Rao Hospital.
NEW DELHI: A teenage inmate at a juvenile home in north Delhi’s Majnu Ka Tila was killed during a quarrel with fellow inmates over access to the bathing area, police said on Wednesday. The victim, detained in an attempted murder case registered at Hauz Khas Police Station, was declared brought dead at Hindu Rao Hospital around 9.46 am on Tuesday, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia. The incident occurred at the Special Home for Boys (OHB-A) located on Magazine Road. “Preliminary inquiry revealed that around 9.15 am, the deceased was involved in a quarrel with two inmates over the use of the washroom for bathing,” said Banthia. A case under Section 103(1) (Punishment for murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Timarpur Police Station. Meanwhile, one of the attackers has also been booked under Sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC at Mundka police station. Police are verifying the age of the victim and the two accused. “The concerned Judicial Magistrate and the family of the deceased have been informed. An enquiry under Section 196 of the BNSS (Inquiry by a Magistrate into the cause of death) is being conducted by the Judicial Magistrate,” the DCP added. The victim’s body has been preserved at the Hindu Rao Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
