SPO bludgeoned to death in Haryana's Faridabad

FARIDABAD: An unidentified assailant bludgeoned a Special Police Officer (SPO) named Mohan Lal (42) to death in Surajkund area of Faridabad, police said on Wednesday.
The incident came to light when a tea seller discovered the SPO lying in a pool of blood near a police picket and immediately informed a cop, who was on duty with the victim on Tuesday night.
Mohan Lal, a resident of Ratta Khera village in Sirsa district, was rushed to a nearby hospital by the constable.However, the doctors declared him brought dead.
As part of the investigation, some vendors told the police that a boy was seen roaming in the area with an interlock tile in his hand, and it is possible that he might have been the one who attacked Lal.
The boy had reportedly approached the police picket around 8.20pm and had an altercation with Lal, who asked him to leave.
Based on the complaint lodged by constable Om Singh, an FIR was registered under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Surajkund police station on Wednesday. The police are currently scanning CCTV footage to identify the accused.
The family of the deceased SPO has been informed of the tragic incident, and the investigation is ongoing under assistant sub-inspector Amarjeet's supervision.
