Ghaziabad: A couple and their 18-month-old son sustained severe injuries as the roof of their two-storey house collapsed in the Loni area on Friday.
Police said the house was dilapidated, and the recent rain may have further weakened the structure.
Manoj Kumar (28), his wife Renu (27), and their 18-month-old son Divyansh resided in a rented flat in Krishna Vihar Phase 2.
Bhaskar Verma, ACP (Ankur Vihar), stated that the incident occurred around 7.30am. A police team, medical personnel, and officials from the fire department arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations.
“The victims were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Manoj had injuries in his hand and shoulder and was discharged soon. His wife and son were transferred to GTB Hospital in Delhi for advanced care,” the ACP said.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the aging residence was constructed two decades ago and spanned 29 square meters. At the time of the incident, the child was asleep, Manoj was preparing to depart for work, and Renu was in the kitchen,” he added.
According to officials, all the victims are now stable. A police team has been dispatched to GTB Hospital to monitor Renu and her son's health. “We have not received any formal complaint regarding the matter,” said the ACP.
