Modinagar police station disbanded after MLA complaint to CM

GHAZIABAD: A day after entire police force posted at Modinagar police station was disbanded by SSP Hari Narayan Singh the process of replenishing police stations with new work force has begun. According to SSP work forces have been drawn from police lines and from different police stations in the district and till Wednesday about 32 cops have joined.
Commenting on the action Hari Narayan Singh said, “There was trust deficit among Modinagar residents because of the manner in which police handled the murder case of a 14-year-old and it was necessary to regain the trust and also send a strong message to the police force.” The SSP on Tuesday night had removed a total of 133 cops stationed at Modinagar police station which included 96 constables, 13 female constable, 4 sub inspectors, 19 head constables and 1 SSI.
However, it has been learnt that behind such an unprecedented action by Ghaziabad SSP it was Modninagar MLA Manju Sivach who on Monday last met chief minister Yogi Adityanath and apprised him of the incident.
Confirming this Sivach while speaking to TOI said, “I was closely monitoring the case and had even met SHO Sanjay Verma at Modinagar police station, but beyond assurances the police was practically doing nothing.”
“I got to know from my sources and also through media reports that the accused enjoyed political patronage from a certain party which explains why the prime accused in the case Hari Om Sharma was let go even after he was called by police for questioning,” added Sivach.
“Modinagar police in a brazen display had tried to protect the accused which I could not tolerate so I went to Lucknow on Monday and met Yogiji and explained to him the case,” said Sivach.
Sivach also met DGP, IG crime and chief secretary and it is believed that an instruction was issued to SSP Ghaziabad which led to such an unprecedented action.
Meanwhile, Modinagar residents who had taken up cudgels against police have expressed satisfaction over the move. A resident Lokender who has been assisting deceased the girl’s family, says, “We are satisfied with the action taken so far, but we will still not let the protests subside as we want a water-tight case against all five accused who have been arrested."
