Panaji: Archbishop of Goa and Daman Filipe Neri Ferrao, governor Mridula Sinha and chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar extended their heartiest greetings to the people of Goa on the auspicious occasion of
Easter Sunday.
In his message, Ferrao said, “The feast of the resurrection of Christ symbolizes the triumph of love over hatred, of joy over sadness, of mercy over hardness of heart.
‘Jesus, who was crucified, is risen!’ is the cry of joy that bursts forth from our hearts, every Easter. As I partake in the joy of the Christian community in our archdiocese, I pray that the Church in Goa may rise to the occasion and express this joy in daily living by giving victory to the values coming from above. And in the name of our community, I extend greetings to all the people of good will, with wishes that the same values, which are universal, may shine out in our lives, strengthening our traditional inter-religious and inter-community understanding and harmony, thus ensuring a more just and peaceful living, for the progress of the nation and humanity at large.”
Stating that Easter is an auspicious occasion for us to recall the eternal and valuable message of love, forgiveness, tolerance, compassion and brotherhood, preached and propounded by Lord Jesus Christ, Sinha said “May the celebrations of Easter bring greater peace, happiness and unity among people this year.”
Also offering his wishes to Goans, Parsekar expressed hope that Easter celebrations would inspire everyone to work for a peaceful life. He said that the significance of Christ’s resurrection is that love is stronger than hatred and truth triumphs over evil. Easter celebrates compassion and brotherhood and the renewal of hope in a better tomorrow. “May the celebrations strengthen the bonds of unity and spread hope and joy,” his message stated.
