Drunk Thar driver remanded in five days police custody
Mapusa: The Mapusa judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) court on Saturday has remanded 29-year-old Yadukrishnan S Sajaikumar in five days of police custody following a fatal head-on collision in Siolim.
According to the police, Yadukrishnan crossed into the oncoming lane and rammed into a scooter ridden by Sanket Dabholkar, 34, who succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to the North Goa District Hospital in Mapusa.
The pillion rider, Nischal Morajkar, 14, sustained grievous injuries and is undergoing medical treatment.
Anjuna PI Krishna Sinari stated that a subsequent medical examination officially confirmed the accused was driving drunk.
Investigating officers noted that despite knowing the fatal risks of driving under the influence, Yadukrishnan endangered public safety, leading to the tragedy.
Yadukrishnan, who has been working and staying in Goa since 2022, faces stringent charges for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and endangering human life.
