Goa: Top destination for New Year celebrations

PANAJI: Goa is emerging as top destination in the country for New Year celebration. The latest TripAdvisor survey states that most Delhiites will be heading to Goa this New Year.
"Across the globe New Year is the time for people to let their hair down, unwind and have fun. As the celebratory cheers heighten in the last month of the year, most people plan the much awaited year-end holidays around this time," says Nikhil Ganju, Country Manager, TripAdvisor.
"With its combination of beaches, heritage, water sports, yoga resorts, great dining options and all night parties, it's no wonder that Goa remains the undisputed destination of choice for Indians to bring in a new year. On a personal note, I've been going there every New Year for the 11 years now, and I still look forward to it," adds Ganju.
This comes at a time when Goa is gearing up to expect increased tourist traffic into the state. One of India’s smallest states, Goa has always been a top choice for travelers when it comes to holidays. This is something that was endorsed recently as Goa was declared as ‘The Best Leisure Destination’ by CondeNast Traveller at the Readers’ Travel Awards. This is the second time in a row that the state has won this honour and this time it has beaten Kerala to retain the top position.
