Goa varsity starts BVoc programme in electronics
Panaji: Goa University (GU) has introduced a bachelor of vocation (BVoc) degree programme in electronics at its School of Physical and Applied Sciences (SPAS) for the academic year 2026-27.
The programme will offer specialization in the areas of Internet of Things (IoT), AI-embedded product development, networking and IT consumer hardware, refrigeration and washing machine, GU has said.
Any student who have completed Class XII or an equivalent exam or two years of the three-year diploma post Class X can join the programme.
“Also eligible are Class XI pass and pursuing continuous schooling, Class XI pass with one year experience, Class X pass with two year experience, previous relevant qualification of National Skills Qualification Framework of 3.5 with 1.5 years experience, previous relevant qualification of NSQF Level 3.0 with three years experience,” the university has said.
Around 13 NSQF or skill subjects are offered from Class IX at school level and the BVoc programme offers upward mobility to these students.
“Admission will purely be on the basis of merit (aggregate of 40% of marks at the qualifying exam and 60% of an aptitude test/interview). Goa University shall conduct an entrance test if large number of applications are received,” GU has said. The BVoc programmes are being offered to provide students the flexibility.
The vocational bachelors programmes will have more practical content to bridge the gap between academic education and industry requirements.
