MARGAO: Five fuel stations located within the city limits - Kurade petrol pump, Kavlekar petrol pump, both Virginkar petrol pumps (near Gomant Vidya Niketan and behind Fatima convent) and Keni petrol pump - will remain closed during the time when the 'Dindi' procession passes through the city on the intervening night of November 8-9.
South Goa collector Sandeep Jacques has issued an order directing these five fuel stations to remain closed from 7 pm on November 8 until the 'palkhi' procession reaches the Damodar Sal temple at Comba.
The 'palkhi' procession, which is the main part of the festival that attracts large crowds, begins from Hari Mandir, winds its way through the city and culminates at Vithal Mandir, Comba, in the early morning hours.
Jacques issued the order acting on the recommendation of South Goa police, considering the safety of the public and for the smooth movement of the 'palkhi' procession and traffic.
