Porvorim MLA opposes relocation of cruise boats at Britona
MAPUSA: Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte has opposed the state government's move to shift the cruise boats from the Santa Monica jetty to at Britona and Betim jetties . The boats were asked to temporarily move as the tourism department wants to repair the dilapidated Santa Monica jetty.
Local MLA Rohan Khaunte has claimed that the present infrastructure at both the places is not adequate to cater to the heavy traffic. Khaunte said that the village roads are very narrow and as such, the shifting will add to the present traffic woes faced by the locals.
Khaunte has also raised fear over increasing anti-social activities at both places, with the shifting of cruise boats.
Cruise boat operators have also refused to move their vessels to the opposite side of the river at the Captain of Ports jetty, on account of lack of facilities.
